Questions

Everything worth knowing.

The practical, the clinical, and the in-between. If it’s not answered here, ask on the consult.

Getting Started

The first steps.

How do I get started? Book a free twenty-minute consult. It’s a video call where we talk through what’s been going on and whether working together makes sense. Bring whatever you have, even if it’s just “I don’t know where to start.”
What happens in the first session? The work begins. Intake paperwork is handled before we meet, so the session itself stays conversational. We talk through what brought you here, what you’ve already tried, and what the work might look like going forward.
Are sessions in-person or telehealth? Telehealth only, anywhere in New York State. Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly, over secure video.
Do you work with teens and kids? Yes. I work with adults, teens, and kids. Younger clients work alongside parent consultation, and the consult is where we figure out together whether telehealth is the right fit for your child.

The Work

How therapy goes.

What is depth therapy? Therapy that looks at where a symptom comes from, not just how to quiet it. The anxiety, the shutdown, the pattern that keeps repeating usually started somewhere, and understanding that is what makes change last. My approach is psychodynamic and trauma-informed, and practical tools are part of the work too.
How long does therapy take with you? Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is the timeline. The first few sessions are about getting to know each other: what you’re carrying, what you’ve tried, and what helps you feel comfortable enough to go deeper. From there we shape the work around you. Most clients meet weekly for six months or more, but the pace is set by what you need, not by a protocol.
Do you offer EMDR? Yes. I integrate EMDR into the work, with full certification in progress. Whether it’s the centerpiece of your therapy or one tool among several depends on what the work needs, and we decide that together.
What’s your style in session? Warm and direct. You won’t get a therapist who only nods. I ask real questions, I’ll challenge you when the work calls for it, and you don’t have to pretend with me.
Who do you work best with? Insightful, motivated, emotionally aware people who are ready to work at depth. Some are working through old wounds, some are living with health challenges, and some are in the middle of a relationship or life change that’s stirring everything up. Some are parents watching a kid repeat a pattern that isn’t shifting on its own. What they share is a wish to understand why something is happening, not just how to manage it.
Do you prescribe medication? No. As a therapist I don’t prescribe. If medication is part of your care, I’m glad to coordinate with your prescriber so the work stays connected.

Money + Logistics

The practical.

What are your fees? Sessions are $195 for 50 minutes. I’m an out-of-network provider, and superbills are available for possible partial reimbursement based on your benefits. Call your insurance for more information. We can walk through what that looks like on the consult.
Do you take insurance? I’m an out-of-network provider. I can provide superbills to submit to your insurance for possible partial reimbursement based on your benefits, and I’m happy to walk you through how that works. Call your insurance for more information about your out-of-network coverage.
What’s a superbill? A detailed receipt I provide after sessions. You submit it to your insurance, and if your plan includes out-of-network benefits, they reimburse you directly for part of the fee. When you call your plan, ask about “out-of-network outpatient mental health” coverage.
What’s your cancellation policy? I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations and no-shows are charged the full session fee.
What if I’m in crisis? I don’t provide crisis or emergency services. If you’re experiencing a psychiatric or medical emergency, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Still have questions?

The consult exists for exactly that. It’s completely free, and you can ask me anything.
